  1. Hi Mark, thanks for your question. You are allowed to multiply both sides by anything you like (including x), as long as you remember that when you multiply both sides of an inequality by a negative number you have to swap the inequality (i.e. less than becomes greater than, and vice versa). That’s why on this question I have ended up with two different inequalities, one for positive x and one for negative x.

  2. Hi, i thought you weren’t allowed to time x in this equation by x, but only by x^2, as x is the original equation can only be negative or positive by when you times is x^2 it can be either positive or negative.
